2017 Jeep Cherokee at Chrysler of Culpeper

The Jeep Cherokee arrives in 2017 as the capable wilderness trekker we all know and love, with 4 doors around a comfortable cabin. It has more than 70 possible advanced security and safety points, has an energy conserving rear-axle that disconnects as needed (an industry-first), and continues with its best-in-class prowess in both towing and off-roading. The 4x4 Trailhawk model enters the equation with Keyless Enter 'n Go, a remote start system, a power 8-way driver seat, a power liftgate, a universal garage door opener, Nappa-leather front heated seats, and a premium heated steering wheel. There are dual Overland Packages as options, titled the 'Trailer Tow Prep Package' and the 'Heavy Duty Protection Group'. With high-intensity discharge headlamps as standard on all but the Sport model, lighting the way forward this year will be no problem. The Overland models gain some new perks, including distinctive floor mats, an Alpine audio system (standard), and a Zebrano steering wheel with wood-trim and a high-gloss finish.

Under the Cherokee's Hood

A 9-speed automatic directs the gears within the Cherokee very well and works with either engine. A Multiair2 TigerShark 2.4-liter 4-cylinder is standard in the engine department and weighs in with 184 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. The next engine (available) is a Pentastar 3.2-liter V6 with VVT that brings in 271-horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. The 2017 Cherokee is FWD as standard or 4WD as an option. A front-wheel drive 2017 Cherokee with the 2.4-liter engine is rated by the EPA at 25 mpg combined (21 city/30 highway). The standard Jeep 'Selec-Terrain' traction control system is on every Cherokee model and has up to 5 modes (Sand/Mud, Snow, Sport, Auto, and Rock). The 2017 Jeep Cherokee can attain a 56:1 crawl ratio for all your low-range traction adventures. The V6 towing package can perform up to a best-in-class 4,500-lb towing max. Let's not forget either that the 2017 Jeep Cherokee has 3 available 4WD systems, depending on model: the Jeep Active Drive I - single-speed 4WD, the Jeep Active Drive II - two-speed 4WD, and the Jeep Active Drive Lock - two-speed 4WD with rear locker (Trailhawk only).

Design of Jeep Cherokee

The 2017 model list has the Trailhawk, Latitude, Sport, Overland, and the Limited. There are in addition to that 3 model branches of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee: the 75th Anniversary Edition, the Altitude, and the High Altitude. The Sport trim has sliding/reclining rear seats with 60/40-split folding seatbacks, 17-inch steel wheels, an auxiliary input, Bluetooth, an SD card reader, remote keyless entry, and more! The keyless entry/ignition feature is standard on the Limited model, which also has an auto-dimming mirror (rearview) and eighteen-inch alloy wheels. The Trailhawk model is designed for off-roading, with features like a locking rear differential, hill-ascent and descent control, all-terrain tires, wider 17-inch wheels, higher ground clearance, tow hooks, satellite radio, a panoramic driver info display with color graphics, skid plates, and an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen. The Overland trim brings the party with a power lift gate, an acoustic windshield and acoustic front windows, Berber floor mats, a power-adjustable passenger seat (with 4-way power lumbar), and an 8-speaker audio system (plus a subwoofer). The Latitude rocks LED interior lighting, roof rails, a rearview camera, light alloy wheels, fog-lights, a 115-volt outlet, and automatic xenon headlights.

Conclusions

All Cherokees have 10 airbags as standard issue for 2017. Those are composed of leading multistage front, supplemental front-seat side, supplemental side curtain front/rear, driver and front-passenger, a driver/passenger inflatable knee bolster, and supplemental rear-seat side airbags. The Cherokee incorporates, as standard, stability/traction control and antilock disc brakes. All 2017 Jeep Cherokee models containing an 8.4-inch touch screen can route the subscription-based functions of the Uconnect Access system. This system has remote door unlocking, stolen vehicle assistance, an automatic impending crash notification, and on-demand emergency roadside assistance. The two similar Latitude models can utilize the 'Safety/Convenience Group' package, which has power multi-function foldaway mirrors, an Alpine speaker system, a power 8-way driver seat, both Blindspot and Rear Cross Path detection, and ParkSense rear park assist. A rearview camera is within every Cherokee model minus the Sport (but it's an option). The IIHS says that the 2017 Cherokee earned a score of 'Superior' for its available forward collision mitigation system. In government crash tests, the 2017 Cherokee saw an overall rating of 4 out of 5 possible stars, with 5 stars for total side-impact protection and 4 stars for total front-impact protection.
