New 2017 RAM 1500 at Chrysler of Culpeper

For 2017, the incomparable RAM 1500 has a bunch of standard features, like rear park assist, the Uconnect 8.4 media user interface, automatic two-zone temperature control, an anti-spin differential, a streamlined instrument cluster, a security alarm, a remote starter, and a rear backup camera! The Big Horn 2017 model has a new automatic temperature control. Rain-sensing wipers keep water at bay on the windshield of the Laramie Longhorn, plus that model uses new SmartBeam technology, LED lighting lights within the truck bed, and Keyless Go, all as standard. Further, the Sport model installs both a remote start and a security alarm.

Under the 1500's Hood

The standard engine on the Limited, Laramie Longhorn, and Sport models is a 5.7-liter V8 engine that sees 395 horsepower and manufactures 410 lb-ft of torque (an option for other models- minus the HFE model). There is an 8-speed automatic transmission on the RAM 1500, paired up with a standard 3.6-liter gasoline V6 engine. That 3.6-liter engine gets 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. A Ram 1500 with the V6 gasoline engine can tow up to 7,610-lbs (correctly equipped), the diesel V6 can tow up to 9,210-lbs, and the V8 engine will tow up to 10,640 pounds. The HFE model has the EcoDiesel engine as standard, which is a turbo 3.0-liter diesel V6 that gets 240 horsepower and spins 420 lb-ft of torque. The EcoDiesel engine is a choice on all except the Rebel, Sport, and Express. All 1500 models use 5-link coil springs on the rear end and twin-tube shocks for the suspension. The Rebel model has an active-level, all-corners air suspension system as standard. Rear-wheel drive is also standard, or you can have a choice of two available 4WD systems. Both 4WD systems use a 2-speed transfer case and have low-range gearing.

Design of RAM 1500

The Tradesman, HFE, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Express, Limited, Sport, Big Horn/Lone Star, and the SLT make a strong showing for 2017. The following items are all located within the 2017 RAM 1500: a Wi-Fi hotspot, remote start, keyless entry and ignition, power-adjustable pedals, Bluetooth, and voice controls! A six-speaker audio system appears typically, which is more than sufficient. The Ram 1500 has two Uconnect touchscreen choices (5-inch or 8.4-inch) which facilitate passenger's entertainment. The Rebel is made in a work-oriented crew cab format, which has a 5-foot-7-inch truck bed. The Rebel trim has items such as LED fog-lights, tow hooks, anti-spin differential, keyless entry, all-terrain tires, front/rear Bilstein performance shock absorbers (all other models are rated heavy-duty), black fender flares, 17-inch wheels, and the RamBox storage system (as an option). The Limited, Laramie Longhorn, and Laramie models get 10 speakers mixed in with a subwoofer as part of the Premium II package. This package also contains an Alpine sound system and a 12-channel amplifier!

How is the RAM on safety according to the IIHS?

A rearview camera, front/rear parking sensors, and a controller for the fully unified trailer-brake are all choices in 2017! For safety features that are standard, RAM puts in a trailer sway control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, hill-start assist, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and stability control. In government crash testing, the Ram 1500 earned 4 out of 5 stars for overall crash protection, which is made up of 4 stars for complete front-crash protection and 5 stars for complete side-crash protection.
