Make sure to plan your route ahead of time, and to also have a gps or hard-print map.

In the south the small town named Ellijay is a prime place to go. It is about 80 miles north of Atlanta, and features 10 pick your own apple orchards and the annual Georgia Apple Festival and beautiful fall colors just waiting for you to take a snapshot. The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway's four-hour trip through the mountains is also a great option. Don't forget to take your camera!
