What are the powertrain options available with the 2020 Grand Cherokee?

Each Grand Cherokee engine comes paired with a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission that offers streamlined performance while on and off the road. Looking at the powertrain list itself, we see a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine coming into the majority of the trim models of the Grand Cherokee. This V6 engine can push out a solid 295 horsepower and up to 260 lb-ft of torque potential. Thanks to this mid-size SUVs solid structure and systems, the power from this V6 engine transfers well through the vehicle allowing for up to 6,200 lbs of trailer capacity. Jeep also offers an optional upgrade on most trim levels up to a 5.7-liter V8 engine that pushes out even more potential power with 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. We also see two SRT engineered powertrains work their way in with the Grand Cherokee, offered at the SRT and Trackhawk trim levels. With the Grand Cherokee SRT, we see a 6.4-liter V8 powertrain that clocks in at an improved 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. If you are looking for the most intense driving experience with an acceleration that you will both hear and feel, Jeep offers the Trackhawk trim, toting a 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 engine that can produce an immense 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.

What features are brought in each trim level?

The Grand Cherokee is a highly customizable mid-size SUV, offering seven individual trim models to select from and a great number of optional packages and features as well. The base trim model, the Grand Cherokee Laredo, offers a great starting point of features that are incorporated in all other trim models. Some key features from the Laredo trim include quad-halogen headlights that activate automatically, premium fog lamps, speed-sensitive variable/intermittent windshield wipers, dual-zone automatic temperature control system, tilt/telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a Uconnect 4 multimedia system on a 7-inch touchscreen display with smartphone integration, USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, and six speakers. The Grand Cherokee Limited is the second trim level offered, bringing in more features such as power-adjustable front seating with memory settings, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather interior upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, a convenient 115-volt power outlet that can power small appliances, a power-operated sunroof, roof rails, and a power liftgate. The Trailhawk trim is Jeep’s off-road-capable model that works in an enhanced air suspension system that can be adjusted, underbody skid plates, all-terrain tires for extra grip, a rear electronic differential, and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain torque distribution system. Moving up to higher levels, the Overland and Summit trims offer the most luxurious driving experience with the Grand Cherokee, working in features such as larger 20-inch wheels, an enhanced panoramic sunroof, premium perforated leather seat upholstery, premium audio systems adding in a multitude of extra speakers, and more. The SRT and Trackhawk trims are for those who are looking to use track-tuned systems that also include top-end luxury; if you are looking for the highest power potential, then the SRT and Trackhawk trims are for you.

What are the top safety and security features included?

On top of the immense feature list and potent powertrains, Jeep also applies modern technology and engineering to enhance the overall safety and security of the Grand Cherokee. Thanks to the efforts of Jeep, the Grand Cherokee was rated by the NHTSA receiving an overall safety rating of five-stars. This in part is thanks to Jeep’s advanced airbag system featuring multistage front airbags with supplemental side and curtain airbags throughout the rest of the SUV. Also coming standard with each Grand Cherokee model are features such as hill-start assist, electronic stability control with all-speed traction control and roll mitigation, a ParkSense rearview camera and parking assist system, trailer-sway control, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection.
