For up to 20,000 pounds of towing capacity, Ram offers a 6.7L Cummins TurboDiesel Inline-6 engine, supplying 370 horsepower and a spectacular 850 lb-ft of torque. Both of the Ram 2500 engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels. However, 4x4 can be chosen for any trim level. The diesel engine’s transmission can be swapped out for a 6-speed automatic transmission to better handle the high amount of torque. 

The 2022 Ram 2500 is one of the most high-tech heavy-duty trucks out there. This is partially due to the available Uconnect 5 system, which comes standard with the Big Horn trim and all that follow. Displayed on an 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen, Uconnect 5 offers many of the latest in infotainment technology. Other Uconnect 5 features include voice-activated TomTom navigation with over-the-air traffic updates, two-device Bluetooth connectivity, 4G LTE WiFi, and more. The safety features also get an upgrade with the available Advanced Safety Group. This includes blindspot monitoring, active lane management, automatic emergency braking, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic detection. 

In addition to the Uconnect 5 system, there are many other updates to the Ram 2500. The new LED trailer hitch light sits above the trailer hitch, illuminating it for an easy link-up even in the dark. Also, the Ram 2500 uses a new air filtration system, designed to filter out 95% of dust, debris, and contaminants, providing all occupants with clean, fresh air. More special editions and packages were added to the lineup. This includes the Silver Edition, adding unique black interior accents, and a chrome finish on the tow hooks, door handle inserts, belt molding, and its unique grille. The Limited Longhorn special edition, adds wheel-to-wheel sidesteps on models without dual rear wheels, while dually variants have cab-length side steps. Additionally, the Power Wagon’s Level 3 Equipment Package includes LED headlights, Gloss Black headlight surrounds, a black mesh grille, and Gunmetal RAM lettering. Inside, the Power Wagon Level 3 Equipment Package adds a 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, 17-speaker Harman-Kardon premium audio, leather bucket seats, and more.
