Those who own a traditional gasoline-powered vehicle are probably aware of the typical maintenance your vehicle has to go through so you can keep it on the road. There are things like engine oil that need to be replaced every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, and then there are the tire rotation, brake pads, and rotors you have to deal with, among other things. When you compare all of this to a Jeep 4xe vehicle, there is no comparison. There will be fewer maintenance costs in the long run, and you can choose to charge your vehicle at home. While 4xe vehicles will require less maintenance, there are still a few things that will need to be done to keep your 4xe vehicle running. What needs to be serviced?
No matter what vehicle you own, you will always need to check the tire pressure. Your 4xe will need adequately inflated tires to give you better mileage. Have our team here at Chrysler of Culpeper rotate your tires and inspect them for wear and tear. If your tire tread is wearing unevenly, you might need to have our experts perform a wheel alignment. This will be very noticeable if your Wrangler or Grand Cherokee 4xe pulls to one side or the other. In addition, you will need to replace your air filter inside the cabin, check and replace the wiper blades, and top off your windshield washer fluid. What would my maintenance schedule look like?
The maintenance schedule for your 4xe will be straightforward when compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. Every thirty days, you will need to have your tire pressure checked and your wheels examined for wear and tear. You will also need to top off your windshield wipers if needed. At the 7,500-mile mark, you will need to have your tires rotated, check the coolant level in your battery, check your cabin heater, power inverter, accessory power, and charger modules checked, and inspect the brakes, steering, and suspension. You may also want to have your headlights checked and replaced if needed. At the 15,000-mile mark, you should have your windshield wipers replaced and during the 30,000-mile mark, replace your cabin air filter. Finally, when you reach the 75,000-mile mark, replace your suspension gas struts and drain and service your coolant circuits. We can do all this for you at Chrysler of Culpeper!
How long will my battery last?
If you have a 4xe vehicle, then your battery pack will be the most expensive component to replace, but you will normally get a good manufacturer's warranty. Usually, it will be 8 years or 100,000 miles. Most automakers will offer you an extended warranty on batteries. Once your battery goes through years of service, it will start to lose its range, but you should still be getting good performance. Many EV or 4xe vehicles will trade in their vehicles before the warranty on their battery ends, so they don't have to deal with replacing the battery pack.
How do my brakes work?
Your 4xe vehicle will use regenerative braking. This means they will use kinetic energy from the vehicles under braking to charge the vehicle's battery. These systems will normally last longer than your conventional braking system that comes on gas-powered vehicles as they are much more gentle on the brake pads. It also means that your brakes will need to be serviced not as often.
